It has been noted (more than once) that Norbert set off earlier than usual this morning.
Those familiar with his route will have seen him, red bicycle and all, making his way along the winding path just as the mist was beginning to lift. His satchel, noticeably fuller than usual, suggested there was more to deliver than the ordinary letters and parcels.
There has been quiet speculation as to the cause.
Some say new residents have been arriving – though no one seems quite sure from where. Others insist it is simply the time of year when things begin to stir again, and Norbert, as ever, is at the centre of it.
He was seen pausing briefly by the workshop door, checking a label, and smiling to himself before continuing on.
Whatever the reason, it seems certain that Norbert knows more than he is letting on.
And, if his route continues to grow, we may all soon find out why.
