Elsewhere (unconfirmed, but widely discussed), it has been noted that one of the retired showgirls was politely asked by the manager of Waitrose to “please try not to leave such a trail of glitter and feathers in the aisles.”

Witnesses described the scene as “a bit of a sparkly mess,” with one eyewitness attributing the incident to “excessive twirling around the pavlova section.”

The retired showgirl was not available for comment.
